Brian S. Taylor, M.D. / Adult Psychiatry

An Award-Winning Doctor on your side

“As a physician for over 30 years, I am dedicated to alleviating pain and suffering. Whether dealing with medical conditions or psychiatric syndromes, and in many cases, both, or interpersonal and intrapsychic conflict, your wellness is my primary concern. Patients want to be heard and understood, and I want to hear and understand my patients. Taking the time to perform a thorough psychiatric evaluation, discussing clinical impressions and making sure you understand all of your treatment options is how we begin. Together, we then work toward restoring your mental health, overall functioning and peace of mind.”

We are NOW offering telehealth psychiatry visits via Simple Practice, a HIPPA compliant telemedicine platform.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Taylor has been a member of the medical staff at Ventura County Medical Center since 2008. He is also on faculty of the Psychiatry Residency associated with the Community Memorial Health System and VCMC/VCBH. With expertise in the treatment of substance use disorders, Dr. Taylor is medical director of Lakehouse Recovery Center in Westlake Village, serving patients enrolled in their outpatient partial-hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. Dr. Taylor has also served as Treasurer and Member of the Board of Directors for the Ventura County Medical Resource Foundation (2015-2018) and as Member of the Board of Governors, District I for the Ventura County Medical Association (2017-2019).

Recognized by Top Doctors Magazine 2019 and the Consumers’ Research Council of America as one of America’s Top Psychiatrists 2015. Recipient of the 2015 David Fainer, M.D. and Leo Tauber M.D. Behavioral Health Professional of the Year Award, honorees exemplify the dedication and ethics of the physicians for whom the award is named and are selected by a distinguished panel of community leaders. While serving as Quality Medical Director for VCBH, Dr. Taylor and his team won the prestigious 2016 California Association of Public Hospitals/Safety Net Institute (CAPH/SNI) Quality Leaders Award for Data-Driven Organizations and the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Challenge and Merit Award for their clinical performance improvement project: Safe Alprazolam Prescribing and Benzodiazepine Monitoring Program.
